My Mom, My Kartini

By: ALEXANDRIA LIONA DANGE

Class: X-7

Raden Ajeng Kartini is the female hero. She is a great, strong woman. She fought for women's emancipation. Now, if someone asks who the Kartini figure is in my life, my answer is my mom, a great, strong woman who has taught me for 15 years.

She always supports and prays for me. She teaches me to do the good things. She protects me and nearly arranges my needs. She teaches me how beautiful life is. She always feels what I feel.

I have always loved her black wavy hair, dark brown eyes, bright smile, jokes, and everything about her. Even in her anger, I still love her since I know she loves me too.

When I am in the lowest part of my life, she notices me. She gives me her love, care, support, and anything to cheer me up. I know my lowest part will be meaningless if it happens to her, as she is the strongest woman I've ever met. It seems like she feels what I feel. She feels down when I am down. She feels happy when I am so glad. She feels angry when I am angry. That is my mom. She is my Kartini.

If Kartini fought for women's emancipation, then my mom risked her life to give birth and raise me. Both of them motivate me to fight. Kartini motivates me to fight in my studies and be tough, independent, and brave. And just like my mom.

There is a moment when I disappoint her. There is a moment when I make her angry. There is a moment when my words and actions hurt her feelings. But she still loves me. She kept everything she felt in her own heart. Even though I have made mistakes, instead of scolding me, she fixes my bad attitude into a good one. Sometimes, she gets angry, but only for a short while. She will forgive me. Instead of sitting and expecting me to apologize, she comes up to me and persuades me with things I like. Sometimes, it just turns out normal based on the mother-daughter instinct.

I've learned many things from my mother. Mom tells me that life is not going by what we want but by what God wants. God gives us what we should get. Thus, we need to be a good person. Mom also tells me to be yourself. Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. It is just how you appropriate it. Mom tells me every problem has a solution. It is just how you face it. Mom tells me to be a good person and always be patient. Mom teaches me how to live.

I'm not a strong person. I need my mother and have always liked that. I know I won't always be with my mother. So, Mom, may God bless you with health and happiness. I wish you all the best. Thank you, Mom, for all the sacrifices you have made for me. I am sorry for all the mistakes I have made. I hope we will always be in a good relationship.

For all women, I hope all of you always fight for the target. Never give up, be brave, be independent, be Kartini. Happy Kartini Day to all the women who fight for their lives.
